Areas of Practice

  • Wills – estate planning including tax planned wills, powers of attorney, advanced medical directives (living wills) and related deeds of gift.
  • Trusts – including testamentary trusts, intervivos trusts (living trusts) and associated deeds of gift.
  • Estate Administration – serving as executor or administrator of decedent’s estate or advising individuals in those capacities; advising beneficiaries/heirs in estate administration.
  • Guardianship/Conservatorship – advising individuals or families about role of guardian or conservator for incapacitated adults and assisting in proceedings to create such legal helpers.
  • Guardian ad Litem for Adults – certified by Virginia Supreme Court to represent individuals in proceedings to determine incapacity and to represent individuals under a disability in civil proceedings.
  • Commissioner in Chancery – serves as a hearing officer on civil litigation referred by the circuit court Judge.
  • Prenuptial Agreements – serve as an attorney for one of the parties in negotiating and drafting a “prenup” to address property issues during marriage and in the event of divorce or death.
  • Divorce – contested and uncontested divorces including separation agreements, property settlement, equitable distribution proceedings to resolve property disputes in litigation.
  • Custody & Visitation – including agreements and contested litigation in Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and Circuit Court.
  • Support – including agreements and contested litigation regarding child support and spousal support in Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and Circuit Court.
  • Civil Litigation – in family law and estate administration.
  • Collaborative Divorce – serve as an attorney team member assisting individuals in resolving divorce, property, custody and support issues along with financial advisors and child specialists and communication coaches and without litigation.
  • Guardian ad Litem for Juveniles – certified by the Virginia Supreme Court to represent the interests of juveniles in custody, visitation and foster care proceedings.
  • Department of Social Services – represent clients in matters involving the Department of Social Services such as foster care and termination of parental rights.
